Hmmm, few issues here: 1) Being that the elephant is at the bottom of the ramp it would probably impede the progress of the object being released from the height of 5m, however... 2) Since the object is 3 kg (~6 1/2 lbs) it would most likely hit the elephant in the foot, possibly upsetting it and causing the elephant to move off the ramp at which point 3) The object could get stuck or continue to move along the ramp and hit the spring. In which case... 4) You still need to answer the question : ) Sorry - creative answer but I cannot give him credit because he wasn't very thorough.

That's a lot of 'if's and 'possibly's. Occam's Razor. The simplest answer tends to be correct.
In this case, the simplest answer is that the elephant is hit by the object, becomes enraged, and eats the object, thus halting all movement...
At least all movement down the slope.
